140 years old fig tree is the most most famous natural attraction of Florianopolis an it also known as "Figueira". The tree was the one remaning from the big park located in front of Igreja Matriz (Metropolitan Cathedral) and was transfereed to its actual place in 1891. The tree has informational tag. People are always impressed with age, size and full of praise of the tree. Figueira is so remarkable and important to the city, that the football team in Floriaopolis was named after it: "Figueirense Futebol Club". People believe that if you will walk around the tree several times - you will gain luck in marrige and a richness.
