Laid down in May of 2013 the fifth member of the Legend Class of National Security Cutters built for the US Coast Guard, USCGC James is the first ship of the US Coast Guard named in honor of Joshua James, an American sea captain and a U.S. Life-Saving Service Station Keeper and Gold Lifesaving Medal recipient who is credited with saving over 600 lives during his career.
Launched in May of 2014 and christened in August of the same year, the USCGC James is slated to join the US Coast Guard fleet in the Summer of 2015.
