castle, entrepreneur

In 1704, Jean-Martin Wendel, owner of the famous forge, had a castle built. Its construction was completed in 1720. The castle received many additions as the economic power of the owners grew.
Humbert de Wendel (1876-1954) reconditioned the building. It was rebuilt in 1935 in the style of the 18th. century. Part of the castle was pulled down in 2007.
The Bâtiment de l’Horloge, the chapel and the Pavillon Robert De Wendel are the only remaining elements.
