This is a main Western Union microwave station in the transcontinental microwave route. From this point, the tower had microwave links going northeast to Taylorville, IL, west-northwest to Greenfield, IL, southeast to Robbs Hill, IL, southwest to Godfrey, IL, and south-southwest to Dorsey, IL.
