It is a historical park and national monument located in the historic center of the city of Tunja. In its surroundings is the firing wall of Martyrs, where they Juan Nepomuceno Niño (Vice President and Governor of the Province of Tunja in 1812) and José Cayetano Vasquez (commander of weapons and Governor in 1813) were shot in 1816. Currently, there is an inscription that says "Eternally lives who dies for his country". The adobe wall is protected from moisture by a glass wall.
Another characteristic monument is the Martyrs Column, marbled piece of 5 levels which was built in honor of the independence movement that is in the San Laureano square, next to this forest.
