Very holy place for Hindus, Buddhists and Jains.

Access from India was stopped by the Indo-Chinese war in the 1960s. Only in 2015 did China let pilgrims start entering through Sikkim, a 900+ mile bus ride.

  • Temples to Shiva may have a statue of him. Faithful see this mountain as Shiva himself or at least his home. To go all around the Massif is felt to be good luck. The walk can take several days. A very fit mountain walker might make it in 15 hours - one day.
  • Its a house to Lord Shiva. It is the place where Shiva Meditated for most of his life. On religious grounds all nations should rise and respect beliefs. Access to such places should be made more comfortable.
