Kagyü monastery. It is the new Dölma Lakhang, the seat of Akong Rinpoche (1940-2013) who resided in Samyeling, Scotland. Currently 104 monks are in residence (before 1959 there were up to 300). The history of the monastery dates back to the 16th century, It was destroyed in 1959. Reconstruction started during the 1980s.
