Before 1886 this neighborhood was a rural part of the Town of Geddes. The neighborhood boundaries are Geddes Street to the east, Grand Avenue and Burnet Park to the north, Harbor Brook Retention area to the west, and West Onondaga Street on the south. The neighborhood takes its name for the unusually high number of skunks that roam the area at night.
