The hangar are each more than 1,000 feet long and 300 feet wide.
Each hangar was designed to hold six blimps simultaneously.
In between the two hangars was a huge concrete circular blimp mooring pad, extending outward from the central pad were concrete taxiways leading to numerous smaller concrete circular blimp mooring pads.

The hangаr were used in numerous television shows and movies; most notably, one was used to make the set for the moon for the HBO mini-series "From the Earth to the Moon".

Worldwide Aeros Corp is, as of 2013, utilizing one of the historic hangars to build a prototype cargo blimp under contract from the Pentagon and NASA. In October, 2013, part of the roof collapsed, damaging the blimp prototype.
