Prestigious building built 15991601 by Michael Imkeller of Lohr. Ground floor originally open market hall, closed in at beginning of 19th century. Today a venue for concerts, cabaret, lectures, and exhibitions. Original Renaissance scrolled gables replaced by simpler Classical ones. Threesided staircase to the north. Ridge turret with gilded statue of Lady Justice. Entrances flanked by Corinthian capitals. Market crucifix at southeastern corner. Vestibule with Renaissance pillars and stucco ceiling on 1st floor. Town council and administration convened here until 1985. Cultural and educational centre of the town since renovation in 1989.
