The eruption of Mount Pinatubo on June 15, 1991 creates a caldera. This was subsequently filled with water from monsoon rains and a crater lake, Lake Pinatubo, was formed.
The lake is located near the boundaries of Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales provinces in the Philippines and is the deepest lake in the country at 800 m (2,600 ft).
