The former house 'The Cluyse' was mentioned in the 14th century.
In 1468 the city of Antwerp gave the building to the 'German Hansa', whom for more than a century would use it. Around 1625 the house was privately owned.
The property has a brick gable, which until 1976 was plastered. The ground floor was repeatedly rebuilt.
In 1975 the house was protected as architecture heritage.
A copy of the façade was made and now displayed in the 'Old Town' in the
Open Air Museum of Bokrijk.
