Icheon Pottery Village (sometimes Romanized as "Ichon") is a small neighborhood in Icheon City, Gyeonggi Province, set off from the city center that specializes in pottery shops. According to the Korean Tourism Organization website, "presently, about 80 pottery factories are congregated at the village, and about 300 pottery kilns are in use. Visitors can observe the pottery production process, and purchase them directly." There are other ceramic centers around the city, but this neighborhood is full of small shops that offer everything from traditional kimchi pots to contemporary styles of ceramics. Worth the trip! Shopping with cash, rather than credit cards, will earn you discounts from the mom-and-pop-owned artisan shops.
