Orthodox Christian Women's Monastery of the Patriarchate of Georgia.
A Monastic community of Orthodox Christian Nuns in the Patriarchate of Georgia, under Metropolitan Dimitri of Batumi, Lazeti and the North American Diocese, located at Union Bridge, Maryland, near Washington, DC, and Baltimore. Our Sisterhood begins with our spiritual family in Greece under the guidance of Elder Dionysios, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of the Dormition, Petra, Greece, the spiritual son of Elder Aemilianos of Simonopetra, Mount Athos.
Still in its first year since the canonical establishment of the monastery by the holy Patriarch of Georgia Ilya II, the sisterhood of St. Nina’s main purpose is praying the daily cycle of services.
Having been blessed by God with a contract to purchase 131 acres with two ponds, a church, refectory, big barn, and 5 residential buildings, the oldest from 1821, all in excellent condition, we found unlimited potential and the great challenge of securing this land and transforming it into an Orthodox Christian Monastery.
In this ideal setting, our prayers and services are combined with hospitality to visitors, caring for the gardens, chickens, and bees, making prayer ropes, natural skin balms and oils, baking Prosphora for the Liturgy, to name a few of our activities. As the seasons change, berry-picking gives way to honey collection. New projects are constantly emerging, and the help and expertise of friends old and new, is always needed. Pilgrims are welcome and should email to arrange visits.
