It is a very old village where Laskar family is the oldest one.....believed they have supplied many men during the war to Bishnupur Mallas. They are actually milkmen but they are coined as "Laskar" by Bishnupur Maharaja. The word Lego is derived from Sanskrit word Lingam. The famous places in this village are Laskar Bishnumandir, Aatchala and Kali Mandir. Huge ponds are also there. One of this is Patra Pukur or Patar Pukur. Once upon a time monks from northern India often use this village for a halt when they went to Puri or southern India by foot or by bullock cart. There are remnants of the grand resting place for monks are seen even today at the west part of the Village which is known as Madhabganj Danga. Bishwambhar Laskar - a family member of the Laskars and an early nineteenth century monk who is popularly known as "Bishe Sadhu" is still famous for his good social works. In the nearby villages are still remembered by the olds and the ruins of his ashrama is still visible at Khatul village which is some 12 km east from Lego. Do anyone know about Dr. bankim Banerjee , who's wife was missed with his son?
