Begin at the trailhead for Blue Lake Trail 604 and follow the trail for 0.2 miles to the junction for Dock Butte. The trail to the left leads to Blue Lake. Turn right and follow the trail 1.5 miles to the site of an abandoned fire lookout at 5,210 feet. The building was burned in 1964. The last .5-miles is moderately steep and exposed.
The view from Dock Butte offers a 360-degree panorama of the North Cascade range. Dock Butte sits on the national forest boundary; to the north is federal land, to the south is state and private ownership.


Directions:
From the Mount Baker Ranger District office in Sedro-Woolley, follow State Route 20 east for 16 miles to milepost 82. Turn left (north) on the Baker Lake Highway (Forest Service Road #11). Continue on the Baker Lake Highway for 12 miles to F.S. Road #12 and turn left. At 7 miles turn left on Road #1230. The trailhead and parking area are located in 4 miles at the end of the road.
