In Spercheiada and surrounding villages had begun secret processes for organized resistance against the invaders and the local partners. Peaked in May 1942, when in Stefani's hut met and formed the first nucleus of organized armed resistance. Thanassis Claras pioneers (Mars Velouchiotis), Fotis Mastrokostas (Thanos) and Stephanos Stephanou and Nikos Levas Vasilis Xirotroulias. Many were those who followed Velouhiotis or framed reserve and armed forces of ELAS and the secret resistance groups and organizations.
