The association "Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble - The Passaron - Ioannina, Greece" is housed on the first floor of the old stone Rodotopi Elementary School, according to the number 374/2012 Decision of the Municipality of Zitsa.

A few words about the guitar ensemble

The "Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble - The Passaron - Ioannina, Greece" is an officially recognized association under No. 314/2012 Judgment of the Court of Ioannina (Greece).
According to the statute, the purpose of the club is to create a guitar ensemble that will study, interpret and present different genres. Moreover, among other things , the club aims to encourage the participation of guitarists of all ages, it hopes to contribute to the overall development of the local music education, it wishes to work with other musicians, choirs, etc. In addition, it is possible to organize educational trips for concerts and other artistic performances.
In furtherance of the above objectives, the club is open to collaborations with associations (such as cultural associations, municipalities, organizations, schools, universities etc.) and with everyone who is willing to contribute, individually or collectively, in this direction.
Anyone who agrees with the statutes can become a member, without the requirement to be a musician. Contrary to this, anyone can participate in the ensemble with only having at least the basic studies of classical guitar. In this sense, all guitarists are welcome to participate in the Ensemble, without age limit and no cost.

A few words about the building that houses the guitar ensemble

This building is one of the oldest in Rodotopi. It was constructed during the Turkish occupation and it was the headquarters of the local Turkish governor. After liberation in 1913, it was used as a primary school until the 1980's. During the 1970's the character of the building altered by adding a newer part as an extension of the old, with a view to ensuring greater space for the needs of the primary school. In reality, this goal has not been achieved being that the primary school moved to another new building built in a separate area. In the extension of the building (newer part)a nursary school has been operating since the 1990's. The old stone part houses the Senior Citizen Center (ground floor) and recently the association "Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble - The Passaron - Ioannina, Greece" (first floor).
