Der Bahnhof Treysa ist ein Durchgangsbahnhof der Kategorie 3 (Regionalknoten mit möglichem Fernverkehrshalt). Jede zweite Stunde wird Treysa von einem InterCity der IC-Linie 26 (Stralsund) – Hamburg – Hannover – Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe – Frankfurt – Karlsruhe – (Konstanz) bedient. In Treysa endet jeweils stündlich der Mittelhessen-Express von Frankfurt am Main über Gießen und die RegioTram RT9 über Kassel Hauptbahnhof.
