Two methane vents attached to the former workings at the old Wearmouth Colliery which closed in 1993. In 2009, they were enclosed in two sculptures created by Frankfurt based artists Wolf Winter and Berthold Hoerbelt. The two giant heads made of steel mesh were inspired by Janus, the Roman God of doorways, and is entitled "Looking Out, Facing In".
