The London Palladium is possibly the most famous of all London theatres, mostly due to its variety shows that were televised live from the stage in the 1950s and 60s. Built in 1910, it was used as an ice rink and circus in its early days until after World War II when it was turned into a live concert venue with megastars such as Frank Sinatra performing to audiences. In 2000, the Palladium was bought by Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group and staged musicals such as The King and I, Sister Act and The Wizard of Oz.
