The "Winckler-Bad" is nowdays a SPA run by the state, nearby Hannover, it is baesd on the usage of "Sulfur, Moor and Salt". It was probably founded by Landgraf Wilhelm IX. of Hessen Kassel in 1787.
However, since 2005 there came another new "old" meaning to the "Wincklerbad". After the news about the atrocities of the Amercan Army in Iraq (Abu Garreib), it came to the light of the day that the Britisch Army had installed a similar concentration camp in the Wincklerbad at Bad Nenndorf. Between 1945 and 1947 German internees hade been tortured and been tortured to death, see:
