Мeaning Sandycove - lies within sight of the harbour of Marmaris but is cut off from it by a forbidding set of limestone mountains. Development is still embryonic. The 2-mile-long beach of black sand remains uncrowded. Behind it, a handful of farmhouses and a few shabby hotels stick out of the citrus gardens. The ruins of ancient Amos lie undisturbed in the bush on top of a cliff on the edge of the village.
Villa Florya stands on a great mass of rock that juts into the sea in the middle of the beach. A large, unwieldy garden rises in rocky tiers to the small, 3-storey hotel block perched on the summit. The rooms are elegant and the view is out of this world. Swimming in the deserted beach in the early morning, one feels that neither time nor the petty details of service must count for much in paradise. The best restaurant of the area is located on the beach.
