Bishop's Palace (Victoria)

Canada / British Columbia / Victoria / View Street, 740

The original palace was built in 1885 and located on Yates Street north of St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Cathedral (1892); it was replaced in 1907 with this Edwardian villa-style brick building on View Street. Architect: Thomas Hooper.

St. Andrew's was the Roman Catholic Church's third cathedral to be built in Victoria. The first, 1858–1884, is now the Chapel of St. Ann's Academy on Humboldt Street; the second, 1884–1892, was behind the site now occupied by the St. Andrew's Square office building.
