  • It is time for a "class action lawsuit" against the sellers of the properties and maybe even against the government of the Bahamas for withholding building permits on this land. The Lucaya estates lots are beautiful, flat and above water, with graded roads and electricity not to far off. The only problem I hear is water. They won't allow you to drill a water well on your property, and they are withholding permits to build for this reason. Most lots should be worth at least $250,000 U.S. dollars(or more) if they allowed us to build. The local residents and the local realtors are trying to buy everything up cheap. DO NOT SELL! Let's all land owners stick together and find a good lawyer that will issue a class action lawsuit.!
  • I will join any class action suit against . My mother acquired our property 1968 and she has then passed away. After almost fifty years there is no improvement, someone has to be responsible.
  • I am also willing to join this class action suit. Please forward more information.
  • I am also want to join this class action suit .Please forward more information thank you.
  • My in-laws bought a plot in 1971, we're still waiting for the development. My husband owns the property now and we would also support any class-action. What do we have to do
  • Everyone, I found an article regarding an environmental study focusing specifically on the Bohemian Brown Headed Nuthatch. Apparently there are only 21 left on the island and they are ALL located in the Lucaya Estates area and any development of the Estates will threaten their existence. Here is the link to the article for anyone wanting to read it: http://www.ecoinst.org/conservation-programs/caribbean-conservation/conservation-of-bahama-nuthatch/
  • Have you had any responses? I will join the class action if I can help. Raymond Perpick, Canada
  • I just saw that the subdivision was donated to the college and for the first time we have not received a bill for maintenance. It's been a year no bill.
  • I THINK WE ALL GOT RIPPED OFF, I WILL GRADLY JOIN ANY LAW SUIT.
  • I sent my payment in April for the "fees" which also now include a tax. I was down in the bahamas last year and was told by one of the locals that the college of the bahams was being built in the estate area. I believe that if the college was built in this area, the college may have enacted the eminent domain and built on our property.
  • I have had a lot since 1965 and have paid a service charge ever since. Looks like the service charge didn't get much service. I will also join in on a class action suit if a suit is even possible. Another question is "does the gov't have to pay fair market value" if imminent domain action is approved. More information on potential legal assistance would be nice.
  • I also own a block of land in the Lucaya Estates that was given to me by a relative almost 22 years ago. Have been paying the bogus Service Charges every year since. Time for a Class Action Law Suit and I would gladly become part of it.
  • i have had 2 acres for45 years or so. i am in on anything to sue develop or sell
  • I would also join in on a class action suit.
  • I would also join a class action suit
  • Hello, who is starting the law sit please? Thanks
  • Join the FB group called Lucaya landowners
  • Is this group still active on Facebook? I can't fond anything about it on FB.
  • I am also a recipient of a deed/lot in the Lucaya Estates. My parents bought it in the 70's. I just read about the possible extinction of the Bahama Nuthatch birds located specifically on the Lucaya Estates property. I think this is our best bet to rid ourselves of this wasted land, and let the birds live there. The Bahama government should be held accountable to this ecological problem and work with us.
  • I have always paid the upkeep yearly. I own two lots in Unit 1, a corner and adjoining lot totalling 2.3 acres of land. Even though I paid all of the upkeep, the land has been audited twice by Lucaya Service Company in a mass audit in which there are ALWAYS arrears, or monies owed. Lucaya Service Company, a department of the Grand Bahama Port AUthority does this about every 10 years, or when they change audit companies it seems. I have saved manilla envelopes of receipts and paperwork, not to mention the oil table under the bahamas. I had the land redeeded to me in the 1990's by a law firm there in Freeport. Beind in the first unit, the land is on the edge of the development closest to Freeport, about 14 miles out.
