tourist information centre/center, closed, historical layer / disappeared object
This was the "Welcome to Washington" tourist information centre, 1989-1992. It was closed due to budget problems. In the late 2000s the property was purchased by Clark College as part of its athletics department. The small brick building that was the information centre still stands and is in surprisingly good condition considering the nearly two decades of neglect it'd been subject to. The access ways off the frontage road to the west are still intact, but fenced off. Access is now solely via the road directly to the south.
Other remnants of its former occupation can be found, such as the base where the "Welcome to Washington" sign once stood (off the south frontage ramp) and a telephone booth with the original U.S. West signage.
