Kölcsey Centre / MODEM (Debrecen)

The MODEM, Modern and Contemporary Art Centre, is the biggest art gallery of the region. The altogether 4650 square metre, three storey building has an exhibition area of some 3000 square metres. On the second floor we find the largest – more than 1300 square metre – contiguous exhibition area in the country. The Modem gives home to numerous modern and contemporary fine art masterpieces. Besides the periodical exhibitions, co-art programmes and museum pedagogy activities are regularly held here as well. A vital part of the art centre is the Modem Shop gift and bookshop as well as the Art Café – this latter regularly accommodates culture historical and philosophical presentations, literary evenings and small concerts too.
