SECMOL Ri, 'ri' meaning hill in Ladakhi and Tibetan, is a hill rising above the Indus River, several kilometers from the village of Phey. This hill has been unofficially adopted by the students of the nearby SECMOL (Students Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh) school and NGO, who along with the many volunteers that come to the school, frequently climb the hill. The hill's summit sits an altitute of c.3680 meters, with a prominence of more than 450 meters above the SECMOL campus, and more than half-a-kilometer above the Indus River. Atop the hill are several rock cairns from which prayer flags are strung, as well as numerous dedications spelled out in pebbles by those who have climbed the hill. The summit provides an excellent, unobstructed view of the Leh Valley, the Ladakh Range, and the hidden village of Rumchu. Also known by the misnomer, SECMOL Mountain.
