Grajaú is a city and municipality in the Brazilian state of Maranhão. Founded on 29 April 1811, its population in 2004 was 52,303. It is one of the most important city in the south of the State. The city is attempting to be named the Capital City of the new State of Maranhão do Sul. The city is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Grajaú.
