Al’hamdu Lil’lah, there is a growing awareness in little towns in Pakistan to promote education in rural, under developed, and disadvantageous areas. When I was growing up, there was almost a consensus among suburban and rural inhabitants that the girls lose their decency and morality when they get educated. I have been in USA since late 1970’s and I am pretty sure that the mentality about female education has still not changed. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was a major proponent for promoting education among Muslim households, equally, for men and women. But some ignorant Imams issued Kufr Decree (Fatwa) against Sir Syed. May Allah bless Pakistan with progressive, radiant, exemplary, peace-loving and educated souls to impart, both religious and worldly educational values which go hand in hand and complement each other equally, for men and women, Aa’meen!
An extremely dedicated and generous Lohani Family of Haveli Lakha, Tahsil Depalpur, District Okara, established the following three schools with their own efforts, funding, and resources to impart Free Education:
Misali Public School
Progressive Public School
Radiant Public School
Bravo and thumbs-up to The Lohani Family for playing a pivotal role in promoting education, both among males and females. These schools are governed under The Punjab Education Foundation and provide free education. The Punjab Education Foundation was established under the Punjab Education Foundation Act of 1991 as an autonomous statutory body to encourage and promote education in the private sector operating on non-commercial and non-profit basis. The Punjab Education Foundation was restructured under the Punjab Education Foundation Act-XII of 2004 for the promotion of education, especially encouraging and supporting the efforts of the private sector in providing education to the poor, through public private partnership.
In USA, We have Private Schools v/s Public School (Government Schools); in Pakistan, a Public School Means a Private School. Now some other interesting concepts: generally the Restaurants are called Hotels in Pakistan. In USA we Drive on the Parkway and Park on the Driveway. Gas Stations (Petrol Pumps) sell cigarettes, but smoking is prohibited there. In Pakistan we ask the waiter for the Bill; in USA, we ask the waiter for a Check (Cheque), in the restaurants.
Dear Lohani Family, you are always welcome to contact me in USA, if I could be of any assistance to your school system. During my next visit to Pakistan, I would love to visit Haveli, with my family, if someone promises a guided tour of this beautiful historic town and/or Pakpatan. I will visit my family in Okara, Insha Allah.
Now some facts About Haveli Lakha - حویلی لکھا
Haveli Lakha is located 180 km - 113 miles, south-west of Lahore, with a Population of about 175,000. Haveli is famous for its Reed Stools and Hubble Bubble which are marketed throughout Pakistan. Haveli is about 20Km away from Indian border with 14 towns and 3 union councils. It has two degree colleges, five schools for boys and four schools for girls. There are approximately seventy-five additional private schools in Haveli Lakha. A Famous Peeli Kothi (Yellow Mansion) is also located here which holds a school these days, with a deplorable and weak structure for the lack of maintenance.
This town was founded prior to the partition of subcontinent when Lakha family owned The Haveli of Lakha (a Mansion in Haveli) near Delhi-Multan Road. The Haveli was used as Rest-house or Musafir-Khana by the travelers. The name of the mansion gradually became the name of the town “Haveli Lakha”.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdus Salam was born in Haveli Lakha (Santokhdas village), on 19 January 19, 1926. He was a Pakistani Theoretical Physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on the Electroweak Unification of the Electromagnetic and Weak Forces. Dr. Salam holds the distinction of being the first Pakistani and the first Muslim to receive a Nobel Prize in Physics.
I love Okara and have many memories associated it. Our family owned agricultural lands and fruit orchards (Bagh) in the vicinity of Okara, in Gogera, in Karman Wala, and in Marula (North of Renala Khurd). Gogera used to be District Headquarters prior to Montgomery-Sahiwal during British Rule. I grew up in Lahore, but Okara was like a second home for us.
In late 1970s, we moved to USA, and love it here, while my brother and sisters are still settled in Lahore. You can search for uzkmi, through Wikimapia Search Bar on top right and read more about my snippets or tidbits.

Hum Na Honge To Hume Yaad Karegi Duniya ...
Apne Jeene Ki Ada Bhi Anokhi Sab Se
Apne Marne Ka Bhi Andaaz Nirala Hoga
Ek Din Bik Jayega, Maati Ke Mol
Jag Mein Reh Jayenge Pyare Tere Bol
Dooje Ke Hothon Ko Dekar Apne Geet
Koi Nishani Chhor, Phir Duniya Se Dol
