This place is called the Paatal Talav. Pavagadh region is a dry region during the summer hence water collection and conservation would have been a matter of concern during the time the fort was occupied several centuries ago. The Paatal Talav appears to be man made pond for collecting and storing water flowing from the hill and has the wall of the fort on one side. The water flows through a very old underground channel into the pond. The collection point for the water is now choked with stones. However, the pond usually gets filled up with water during the monsoon, but dries up by December-January.
