Dorotea (sydsamiska: Döörte) är en tätort i Lappland och centralort i Dorotea kommun i Västerbottens län.
Dorotea är kyrkbyn i Dorotea socken, som är uppkallad efter drottning Fredrika Dorotea Vilhelmina, Gustav IV Adolfs gemål. Byn hette från början Bergvattnet, men har sedermera fått samma namn som socknen.
