'Schutzenplatz' translates roughly to guardsman plaza or square. Marksmanship is still an enormous part of German Culture. Here each year the marksmen (and markswomen) meet to celebrate, compete, and hand out medals. A superb funfair and lots of good things to eat add to the fun. This is the site of the largest annual guardsman festival in Germany.
