house, replica
This is a replica of the original Greek Revival home called Forks of Cypress, built by a planter and horseman who was originally from Ireland named James Jackson between 1825 and 1830. This original historic home burned to the ground after a tragic lightning strike in 1966 and was never rebuilt. The original home site is now on the register for National Historic Sites. The ruins of the historic house, which consist only of the brick columns that surrounded the structure, are located about 15 miles from this replica location. The replica house shown on this Wikipedia Outline represents the typical Greek Revival; Neoclassical architecture for a southern home with large surrounding columns. this replica home was built by a descendant of James Jackson in 2005 and is now a private residence. The floor plan of this tribute home have large rooms with high ceilings and fireplaces, but it is not exact to that of the original home.
