Novo Airão is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Amazonas. Its population was 7,002 (2005) and its area is 37,771 km².

This city received its new name when it moved down the river because the place had too many ants (big ones). It was located near the mouth of the Unini River, which is now considered a paradise for big peacock fishing. It is 100 kilometers upr the Rio Negro from Manaus. One can travel from Manaus by bus (5 hours), or by boat at night (8 hours). Its folk festival runs about the peixe-boi (manatee). It is a pit stop for every tourist boat going up the Rio Negro. It is now world famous because there are two young girls who feed ten botos tucuxis (fresh water dolphins) from their own hands. Even Japanese TV crews have gone there to film them.
