Indo-Phil Textile Mills, Inc. is the first Indian-Filipino joint venture in the country that started its operation in 1975 set up by late Aditya Vikram Birla with merely 15,500 spindles and a lean workforce of 300 employees. As the unit grew from strength to strength, more spindles were added. In February 1988, a new parallel unit based on state-of-the-art-technology was flagged off. To fulfil the substantial demand for high bulk acrylic yarns, in January 1990, lndo-Phil Acrylic Manufacturing Corporation was set up with 3,856 worsted spindles epitomising world class technology. To meet the customer needs, this unit was set-up with a dyeing department for yarn dyeing. Taking cognizance of the fast growing local demand for polyester cotton blended yarns; lndo-Phil seized the opportunity and established lndo-Phil Cotton Mills, Inc. in April 1993. The Cotton Mills boasted of 11,520 spindles based on the latest technology. By April 1995, the capacity more than doubled, with the strength of the spindles soaring to 32,640. To ensure self-sufficiency in power and meet the growing power needs of the various mills, a 12.4 MW Indo-Phil Power Plant was commissioned in September 1994. This stands expanded to 24.8 MW currently. Today, lndo-Phil has 91,884 spindles producing 70 tons of yarns per day of the highest quality and a committed workforce of 2,000 employees working on 3 shifts daily. Indo-Phil Textile Mills started out with products mainly for fabrics of such designs as single knit, interlock, lacoste, honeycombed and ribbed. Indo-Phil's first plant expansion enabled the company to produce Acrylic High Bulk yarn for sweaters, cardigans, socks, stuff toys etc. and Non-bulk yarn for t-shirts and blouses. To meet customer demands and to achieve further growth, Indo-Phil continued on with another expansion program where, eventually it now can produce CVC yarns for knit wears, mainly t-shirts and other fashion garments. Forty percent (40%) of Indo-Phil’s production is directly exported to 24 quality sensitive countries like USA, Europe, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Australia, etc.
