Matekane Air Strip is an airport in Lesotho, Africa with a 400 m (1,300 ft) runway that extends to the edge of a 600 m (2,000 ft) cliff. The airport is often used by charity organizations and doctors to access remote villages in the area, and is labeled as having the world's scariest runway.
Located high in the mountains, taking off and landing at the end of the 2,000-foot-high Matekane takes incredible skill of the pilot. The process will depend on wind conditions. The aircraft will be parked here are not advised to fly before reaching the end of the runway at an altitude of 1,312 feet.
