A 2004 (中俄国界东段补充协定) agreement, finalized in 2008, settled the last China-Russia boundary dispute, one over all of this large island and all of the somewhat smaller Tarabarov Island to the west. The Russians had occupied both islands in their entirety for several decades, while China claimed both in their entirety. The agreement roughly split the total land mass is question in half.
