USA / California / Glendale / Los Angeles, California / North Easterly Terrace, 1530
house, Streamline Moderne (architecture), listed building / architectural heritage, 1937_construction, International style architecture

Built: 1937
Architect: William P. Kesling

The Skinner House is located at 1530 N. Easterly Terrace in Silver Lake and was declared a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 2006 (No. 856). This Silverlake-district example of the Streamline Moderne style may actually be the architect’s most accomplished. Highly decorative built-ins, extensive casement windows and multiple balconies expand and highlight the scale of the public spaces. A curved magnesite stairway with chrome rail ascends to the upper level with two bedrooms, a luxurious master bath and a later den with fireplace opening to an entertaining patio with fountain.
