January 3rd, 1994 at the 5th minute flight from Irkutsk Airport, near the village of Mamony crashed Tu-154 of airline "Baikal" (tail number 85656, Year of construction 1989) flight 130 Irkutsk - Moscow. 116 passengers and 9 crew members, as well as a one man on the ground were killed.
When starting engine #2, crew noticed warning light, signaling about dangerous rotation of the starter. The crew decided to take off, believing that warning was false
During initial climb, at an altitude of 300 meters starter failure caused a fire in the engine #2. The crew deployed the aircraft toward the Irkutsk and requested an emergency landing. The second engine continued to burn, which led to the destruction of adjacent cylinders with hydraulic fluid. Because of failure all of the aircraft hydraulic systems, the crew lost the ability to operate the machine. At 12 minutes after takeoff the aircraft at a speed of 500 km/h, on a sliding trajectory, crashed into a dairy farm in the village of Mamony, which is 3 kilometers away from Irkutsk. Wreckage were found within a radius of 400 meters from the crash site.
