Lismore Comprehensive School is a co-educational Catholic Maintained comprehensive day school catering for over 1100 students between the ages of 11 and 18 years old. It's name is taken from the Irish, Lios Mhor, meaning 'large fort' and refers to the partial remains of small Christian era fort located on the school grounds. I am unaware if the rath had the name 'Lismore' previous to the school or whether the name was generated after it. The school's offical address places it in the townland of Drumgask when, in reality, it is in the townland of Legahory.

  • I would disagree with the Drumgask/Legahory point. Lismore was always in Drumgask even when Legaory was first built and was considered one of the 'posher' estates in early Craigavon/Brownlow in the 70s. Lismore is closer to the Monbrief townland than to Legahory in reality.
  • The school is definitely located within the Legahory townland. The stream running along the rear of the school marks the boundary between Legahory and Drumgask.
