It was once only called Kelvin Grove State High School which was years 8-12 and or Kelvin Grove State Primary School which was years 1-7 but with the Amalgamation it became a state College for years Prep-12 which then Kelvin Grove State College decided to split their school into 3 sub schools, Junior (Prep-5), Middle (6-9) and Senior (10-12) for social and educational benefits.
