Torreon de Barro (Valdivia) | tower

Built in 1774, together with the Torreon de los Canelos, by Governor Joaquin Espinoza, in one of the two entrances to Valdivia by land.

His endowment was cañoncillos bell, four soldiers and a corporal. In 1781 he joined the main line of defense that transformed the city of Valdivia on an island.
In 1785 the tower served as a prison to Colonel Thomas Figueroa.
