The Country Hotel Falkner stands high above the Danube in Upper Austria's Mühlviertel region, on a rocky ridge that drops steeply to the river below.
The original Haus Marsbach No. 2 had belonged to Marsbach Castle prior to 1936, originally serving as the home of hunters. In the property rolls of 1668, there is mention of the “Home of the bailiff, previously built into an overseer’s house”. The existence of Schloss Marsbach was first chronicled in 1075 and has since had a very colourful history. The so-called Jägerhäusl has been first leased, then owned by the Falkner family since 1924, who runs the estate as a four star country hotel since.
