Established in 1923, Hotel Hirayukan is one of the most historic inns in the Hirayu Onsen area of Okuhida Onsengo region. Okuhida Onsen is a great place to stay when you are visiting Hida Takayama, Kamikochi and Norikura areas. A Shinhodaka cable car station is close by.

A large wooden, Gasho-style ryokan on a hot spring discovered in the Sengoku period (15-16 century). The main Kikori bath is renowed for its tent-like wooden roof and the cypress tree construction; the Yamabushi rotemburo is decorated with big rocks. The ryokan owns two hot spring sources (Sodium, Natreum, carbonic acid; Effect: neuralgia, feminine disease, stiff shoulders etc.). Bath only or a bath-cum-lunch option is available, too; MEAL :is 11:30 to14:00, BATH: 13:00-14:30.

The food specialities are Hida beef and mountain vegetables, and food from the Sea of Japan.

Hirayu-Otaki 64 m waterfall is within walking distance (half an hour stroll).
