Wuhan Baishazhou Yangtze River Bridge sometimes also referred to as The Third Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge. The construction started in 1997 and was completed in September 2000. It is located 8.6 kilometres southwest of the first bridge. With an investment of over 1,400,000,000 yuan (about $170,000,000 US), the bridge, which is 3,586 metres long and 26.5 metres wide, has 6 lanes and a capacity of 50,000 vehicles a day. The bridge is expected to serve as a major passage for the future Wuhan Ring Road. enormously easing the city's traffic and aiding local economic development.
