Lake Mokoan was created with the damming of the Winton Swamp in 1971. The lake wall is to the west of the water body. It is a shallow lake with much of its surface crowned by the many dead trees that once forested the swamp! There is movement in the early part of the 21st cebtury to return the habitate back to a wetland area!
