BIT Deoghar is the eighth extension centers of BIT Mesra, Ranchi.

The college was inaugurated on 3 October 2007 by the Chief minister of Jharkhand Mr. Madhu Koda at Ratanpur, Jasidih (Deoghar district). After BIT Patna and BIT Jaipur this was the third extension center of BIT Mesra imparting degrees in engineering. The intake of the first batch was 150, 50 in each streams CSE, ECE and EEE. Since the infrastructure was not ready at Ratanpur a temporary transit campus was made at Daburgram, Deoghar in Pancayat Training Institute with a boys hostel, a girls hostel, one academic block, one faculty hostel (V.I.P. chatravas) and an office. Dr. K.P. Sinha an ex-V.C. of BIT Mesra was appointed as the Director of the institute.
