The Serra do Mar State Park is one of the largest preserved areas of Atlantic Forest, with about 315.000ha. Divided into several nuclei. The core of Pedro de Toledo is the souther of the park and is one of five centers located in the coastal area. This adminstrative center has 55.000ha area and has been found vulnerable species like the puma. As a unit very recent, little is known about the fauna, yet. The predominant vegetation is lowland tropical rain forest. This unit also suffers from urban occupations and conflicts by vacant area.
