  • This is probably the site of "Castlewood", the Emile A. Brugiere estate. Built in 1905 for his wife, Josephine (Sather) and her son, Louis Sather Bruguiere by architect Edward Payson Whitman. After her death in the sinking of the White Star Line "Arabic", the house was subsequently sold to several owners and finally demolished in the 1940s for Naval public housing.
  • According to the Newport 1907 map, "Castlewood" occupied the approx. ten-acre site south of Maple Avenue and East of Girard Avenue.
